Advocacy for Kenya
What’s Happening?
Kenya hosts some of the largest numbers of refugees in the world and is home to some of the world’s largest refugee camps. Refugees in Kenya lack access to basic services, and most are unable to move freely—severely impacting their ability to work. A new Refugee Law, passed in late 2021, has the potential to change that, drastically improving refugee access to their rights.
What Must Be Done?
Kenya must seize the opportunity to meaningfully include refugees in its economy. Doing so will benefit both refugees themselves and their local Kenyan communities. The rest of the world must continue to support Kenya. At the same time, donors must encourage Kenya to make progress on refugee rights.
