Refugees International president Michel Gabaudan told The Daily Star the deteriorating conditions in Lebanon that led ministers to make their extreme proposals should be a wake-up call for the international community to increase its share of the burden for hosting hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians.
“We certainly think closing the border would be a disaster for Syrians,” Gabaudan said. “Perhaps it’s time for the rest of the international community to take a greater role.”
