2022 Richard C. Holbrooke Award

Vostok SOS

Refugees International honored Ukrainian humanitarian organization Charity Foundation “Vostok SOS” with its 2022 Richard C. Holbrooke Award. The “Holbrooke Award” is given annually to a local organization providing exceptional service to displaced people. Since 2014, Vostok SOS has offered comprehensive assistance to people affected by Russia’s invasions of Ukraine and promotes democratic transformation and human rights values. Since the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, Vostok SOS has been at the forefront of efforts to assist tens of thousands of internally displaced people in Ukraine, leading evacuations from the frontline-particularly for elderly people and people with disabilities-providing humanitarian and psychological first aid, and investigating and documenting war crimes. Vostok SOS Executive Director Yulia Krasilnykova accepted the Richard C. Holbrooke Award on behalf of the organization.
