Jonathan Tucker

Jonathan B. Tucker, foundation relations manager at Refugees International, was born in Washington, D.C. and is a nonprofit professional with over two decades of experience designing, managing, and growing programs for local, national, and international organizations. With a focus on fundraising and winning grants for progressive causes and nonprofits working on human rights, public policy, education, arts, and youth programs, Tucker is committed to advancing racial, economic, and social justice through their work.

Prior to joining Refugees International, Tucker served as the development manager for the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, a grant writer with Elevate, and the director of youth programs at Split This Rock, where he taught and coached the award-winning DC Youth Poetry Slam Team and co-founded the Louder Than a Bomb DMV Teen Poetry Slam Festival. Formerly a poetry open mic host with Busboys and Poets, Tucker is a writer, performer, teacher, and trained facilitator who has performed at the Kennedy Center, the South African State Theatre, and has led workshops, lectured, and taught across the country and around the world. Tucker earned a B.A. in sociology and a B.A. in government and politics from the University of Maryland, College Park.

They currently live in D.C. and enjoy biking throughout the city and propagating house plants.
