What’s Happening?
Outbursts of violence in the Central African Republic (CAR) have raged on despite the end of the country’s of the 2013-2014 civil war. Poor governance and tensions among armed groups, religious and ethnic groups, and herders and farmers throughout the country have fueled these cycles of violence. The people of CAR have endured conflict, displacement, food insecurity, and limited access to basic services and economic opportunities for years.
What Must Be Done?
Swift action is needed now to stop the violence and ensure the rights of people in the Central African Republic. Refugees International is raising the alarm and engaging CAR’s civil society leaders in meaningful dialogue on ending the country’s humanitarian suffering.
