On Friday, December 4, 2020, the GW Humanitarian Action Initiative and the Institute of African Studies hosted “Ethiopia’s Tigray Crisis” for a discussion on the drivers of the current conflict, the mounting toll it is taking on civilian populations, and how best regional players and the broader international community can avert a humanitarian disaster in Ethiopia and the broader region.
Elizabeth Hume of the Alliance for Peacebuilding; Patrick Youssef of the International Committee of the Red Cross; Beza Tesfaye of MercyCorps; and Hardin Lang of Refugees International offered their perspectives on the situation on the ground and the path forward.
