The Supreme Court’s Decision on the Trump Administration’s Travel Ban
Refugees International is deeply disappointed by the decision of Supreme Court to permit imposition of elements of the Executive Order imposing a ban on entry into the United States by travelers from six Muslim majority nations and imposing a 120-day suspension of the U.S. refugee resettlement program pending the Court’s future consideration of this issue. The exceptions announced by the Court do not change the fact that there is no reasonable national security justification for these bans. Moreover, the suspension of refugee resettlement will impact the most vulnerable of the world’s populations, including women and girls at risk, survivors of violence and torture, and children at risk, among other groups.
